A common sense analysis of the sovereignty, moral character and omniscience of God renders it impossible that He would have created mankind if He saw Hell as our ultimate, eternal destiny. A God who would allow eternal torment would not be godly, but demonic. If atonement means the reconciliation of humankind to God, then it must result in the ultimate, universal salvation of all humankind. That means Hell cannot be the place of eternal torment that so many of our religious leaders gleefully claim most of us are destined for. Hell must be something else entirely.
